What Are These Laser Systems?

Candela GentleMax Pro

This is a tried-and-true favourite in the world of laser hair removal. It has been around for a while, and we have been using this laser for 8 years here at RestoBod. It uses two wavelengths (755 nm Alexandrite for lighter skin and 1064 nm Nd:YAG for darker skin), making it effective for a variety of skin tones. It's known for its comfort and reliability and uses a cryogen cooling system to keep your skin protected during treatment.

Lumenis Splendor X

The Splendor X is one of the newest and fastest hair removal lasers on the market. It also uses both Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths, but what sets it apart is the BLEND X™ technology, which can emit both wavelengths at the same time—perfect for Calgary's diverse population. It also features a square-shaped laser beam, allowing for more even coverage and faster sessions.

What Our Clients Have To Say

As someone who has had full body laser I noticed the difference between the two lasers immediately. In terms of pain the level is very similar but different, the Candela had a sharper “rubber band” like snap the Lumenis has a more constant heat, but I do find the Lumenis more comfortable.
 
The two biggest differences for me were the better targeting of thin and lighter hairs that the Candela just couldn’t seem to get rid of. One treatment with the Lumenis had a much more noticeable reduction. The second being the speed of treatment, as someone who is 5’ 11” with long legs having a large treatment area and quick pulse makes a huge difference in overall comfort and length of treatment.
 
Overall, I much prefer the Lumenis and am happy to use it to finish off my treatments!
