That is understandable. Nobody wants to overpay. But when it comes to laser treatments, the lowest price does not always mean the lowest overall cost—and it certainly does not guarantee the safest or most effective treatment.
The device being used, the wavelengths available, the experience of the technician and the treatment settings all have a direct impact on your results.
Before purchasing a package, ask a more important question:
What laser hair removal technology will actually be used on my skin?
Many clinics advertise “laser hair removal” when they are actually using Intense Pulsed Light, commonly called IPL.
IPL is not a true laser. A medical laser produces a focused beam of light at a specific wavelength. IPL emits a broad spectrum of light and relies on filters to block some of the wavelengths that are not required.
Although IPL has useful applications in aesthetic medicine, it is not necessarily the best choice for long-term hair reduction—particularly for clients with medium to darker skin tones.
Darker skin contains more melanin. Because hair-removal technology also targets melanin in the hair follicle, using the wrong device or wavelength can increase the risk of burns, blistering and changes in pigmentation.
A heavily discounted package is not a good value if the treatment produces minimal reduction, requires numerous additional sessions or causes an injury that then needs to be corrected.
The most effective medical-grade hair-removal systems typically use one or both of these wavelengths:
Having access to both wavelengths allows the provider to customize treatment according to the client’s skin tone, hair type, treatment area and recent sun exposure.
This is one of the reasons RestoBod invested in dual-wavelength technology rather than relying on a single device or a one-size-fits-all setting.
At RestoBod Laser Clinics, we used the Candela GentleMax Pro for approximately eight years. It is a respected medical-grade platform that combines Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths and has earned its reputation for dependable laser hair reduction.
We later introduced the Lumenis Splendor X, which also uses Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths. Its BLEND X technology can deliver the two wavelengths in customized proportions, allowing treatments to be adjusted for a wide range of skin tones and hair types.
The Splendor X also uses a square treatment spot. A square beam helps provide more consistent coverage with less overlap and fewer untreated spaces than can occur with round treatment spots. Its larger treatment area and rapid pulse rate can also make appointments considerably faster, particularly for legs, backs, chests and other large areas.
Our clients who previously received treatment with both systems have noticed the difference.
One client described the Splendor X as more comfortable, faster over large areas and better able to target thinner, lighter hairs that had remained after previous treatments. After one Splendor X session, she noticed a more significant reduction and chose it to complete her treatment series.
That kind of experience matters more than an advertised price per session.
Consider two treatment options.
One clinic offers a very low price but uses IPL, underpowered equipment or settings that are too conservative to create meaningful follicle damage.
Another clinic charges more per appointment but uses a medical-grade laser, selects the appropriate wavelength and adjusts the settings as your hair changes throughout the series.
The second option may initially appear more expensive. However, it may provide:
Paying repeatedly for ineffective treatments is not saving money.
Even the best laser cannot compensate for poor training or careless treatment.
An experienced technician must evaluate:
Settings should also evolve throughout the treatment series. The coarse, dense hair present during your first appointment will not require exactly the same approach as the finer, more scattered hair remaining later.
Clients with hormonal hair growth, including those affected by PMOS or certain medications, may require additional treatments or maintenance. Darker skin tones may also require the Nd:YAG wavelength and sometimes a longer treatment course to maintain safety.
A reputable clinic should explain these factors honestly rather than promising that every client will be permanently hair-free after an identical number of sessions.
Another common misconception is that laser hair removal can only be performed during the winter.
Treatments can often be performed throughout the year, provided the clinic has the appropriate technology and carefully evaluates sun exposure and skin colour before each appointment.
The wavelength and settings may need to be adjusted when the skin is tanned. Clients must also avoid excessive sun exposure around their treatments and follow the recommended aftercare.
Again, this is where technology and experience matter. Not every device is appropriate for every skin tone or every season.
Before committing to treatment, ask the clinic:
At RestoBod Laser Clinics, we believe laser hair removal should be treated as an investment in long-term results—not as a race to find the cheapest session.
We have worked with leading medical-grade systems and continually evaluate whether newer technology can provide our clients with better comfort, speed, safety and reduction.
Today, the Lumenis Splendor X is our preferred laser hair removal platform. Its dual-wavelength BLEND X technology, square treatment beam, rapid coverage and customizable settings allow us to treat a broad range of clients safely and effectively.
Your skin deserves more than a bargain treatment.

When people compare laser hair removal clinics, price is often the first thing they look at. Nobody wants to overpay. But when it comes to laser treatments, the lowest price does not always mean the lowest overall cost -and it certainly does not guarantee the safest or most effective treatment.
